Most successful CCTV camera installations include the use of a Siamese CCTV cable. A Siamese CCTV cable is easier to install because it includes both the RG59 coaxial cable and the 18/2 power cable in one easy to pull cable. A Siamese cable is much easier to manage and work with especially when running cables through walls, ceilings, or in conduits. This Siamese cable features an RG59 coaxial cable that has a 20 AWG solid bare copper center conductor and a 95% bare copper braid, and a stranded bare copper 18 gauge 2 conductor power cable. Both of these cables have plenum rated (CMP) jackets to support applications where cable is ran in open air circulation spaces.

A plenum rated (CMP) Siamese cable has a special jacket that is flame-retardant, and includes low smoke materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), fluorinated ethylene polymer (FEP), or a polyolefin. A plenum cable offers resistance against fire, and in the event that it does burn, it will not emit large quantities of harmful fumes into the air system. It is recommended that you always follow your local building codes when installing cables in the wall and ceilings. When buying plenum cables make sure it is clearly stamped directly on the cable that it is plenum or CMP rated.
